This course is designed to empower educators with practical knowledge and tools to promote sustainable food education. Whether you're a seasoned educator or new to teaching about food systems, this MOOC will provide you with the skills and resources to inspire your learners.

What is the Edunut MOOC About?

This MOOC focuses on equipping educators with a deep understanding of sustainable food education. You’ll learn about global food systems, innovative low-emission strategies, the importance of soil management, and effective assessment methods for your educational initiatives.

The course is structured into four modules:

  1. Food Systems: Explore the interconnected world of food production, distribution, and consumption.
  2. Low Emissions Strategies: Discover practical ways to reduce the environmental impact of food systems.
  3. Soil Management: Understand the importance of healthy soil and techniques for sustainable soil care.
  4. Assessment: Learn how to effectively evaluate your food education initiatives to maximize their impact.

Each module is designed to take approximately 3 hours, making the full course a 12-hour program.

Flexible Learning at Your Own Pace

The course starts on 2 December and will remain open until 31 January. You can complete the modules at your own pace during this period, fitting the learning around your schedule.

Certification: Upon completing all four modules, you will receive a Certificate of Attendance, a testament to your commitment to advancing sustainable food education.

How to Use Moodle: A Step-by-Step Guide

To ensure a smooth experience, here’s everything you need to know about navigating Moodle as a learner:

 

The Dashboard

When you log in, the first page you’ll see is your dashboard. This serves as your personal workspace, showing all the courses you’re enrolled in.

  • Look for the Edunut MOOC on your dashboard and click to enter the course.
  • You can return to this page at any time by clicking Dashboard in the left-hand navigation menu.

 

The Navigation Menu (Left Sidebar)

The left-hand sidebar is your primary tool for moving through the course. Here’s what you’ll find:

  1. Dashboard: Access your list of courses and an overview of your progress.
  2. Course Name (Edunut MOOC): Clicking on this will take you to the course’s main page.
  3. Modules: All four course modules are listed here. Click on a module to view its content, including lessons, forums, and quizzes.
  4. Forums: Find links to discussion boards specific to each module.
  5. Progress Tracking/Grades: Monitor your progress. Completed activities will be marked, so you know where you left off.

 

Exploring the Course Content

Once inside the course, the content is organized into four modules. Each module contains:

  • Lessons: These may include text, videos, slideshows, and links to additional resources.
  • Activities: Quizzes or exercises to test your understanding.
  • Forums: Interactive discussion spaces tied to the module topic.

At the top of every page, you’ll see a breadcrumb navigation bar, such as:
Dashboard > Edunut MOOC > Module 1.
This allows you to easily navigate backward if you want to revisit earlier sections.

At the bottom of each page, you’ll find Next and Previous buttons, making it easy to move through the course sequentially.

 

Using the Forums Effectively

The forums are a vital part of this MOOC, as they allow you to connect with fellow learners and instructors. Here’s how to use them:

  1. Ask Questions:

    • If you’re unclear about a concept, post your question in the relevant module’s forum.
    • Instructors and other participants will respond to help clarify your doubts.
